Pre-Bid/Site Visit Meeting Attendance Sheet and Q&As PMOC Asphalt Crack and Seal

PMOC Asphalt Crack and Seal RFI’s

1) Under the Description of Bid Item “Seal Coat,” the oil and graded aggregate called for are typical Chipseal specifications. Are you looking for a Chipseal application on this parking lot and Lower Lot area? The specifications have been changed. See updated Attachment A.

2) Due to the natural shedding of the product, Chipseal’s are not typically recommended for parking lots. On other Federal and Government projects we have typically seen specifications for a Slurry Seal (see attached). Are you looking for a Slurry Seal application in the parking lots and lower lot area? The specifications have been changed. See updated Attachment A.

3) In regards to the aggregate size in the solicitation the ½” (Type II) and 3/8” (Type I) are fairly large aggregate sizes. Would the engineer consider a ¼” aggregate size? The specifications have been changed. See updated Attachment A.

4) Will the entire lower lot be cleared for application for 1 day or do we need to phase the project to allow for vehicle and equipment movement? Per the construction schedule restrictions, day-to-day operations cannot be interfered with. Maintaining access to each building precludes the possibility of doing the entire lower lot in one day.

5) Are transitions included in the Crackseal LF lump sum number for both the upper and lower lot?

Estimated linear foot of crack seal is based upon all bituminous surfacing in the area shown in drawing LLM 0019. Please bid accordingly.

6) Will aggregates be required with the seal coat application as stated in paragraph “c’” on page 10? The specifications have been changed. See updated Attachment A.

7) Is there a format for the proposal the bidders are required to submit, or is filling out and returning the Standard Form 1442 and Section B Bid Schedule is all that is required? Refer to the cover letter regarding what needs to be submitted through FedConnect.

8) Can the proposal be turned in electronically through email? No. Per the cover page: Sealed bids must be received via FedConnect.

9) Is a bid bond required? Yes.

10) What specifications are required for the Crack sealing, Sealcoat and type of striping paint?

For pavement marking material specification, see Standard 2, Section 2.13.11. The specifications have been changed. See updated Attachment A.

11) Do the cracks require routing prior to sealing?

The cracks to be sealed must be cleaned of loose material, dirt, vegetation, dust, and debris. If this cannot be achieved by hot air lance, routing will be required.
