About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Langley Research Center's requirement for a Brand Name or Equal PhotoMachining Laser Micro-Machining System. The solicitation (RFQ 80TECH25Q0103) seeks a comprehensive laser system with specific technical specifications, including a Light Conversion 40-Watt Carbide laser with harmonics module, X/Y stage motion with 1000mm x 500mm travel, controllers, CAD/CAM software, and a Class 1 laser system enclosure. The system must be capable of micromachining features in various materials through laser ablation, with focused spot sizes under 25 microns, and operate across multiple wavelengths (1030, 515, and 343 nm).
The procurement is a small business set-aside with a total performance period of 26 weeks after award. The vendor is required to deliver the system to NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, and provide three days of onsite installation and training. The solicitation will be awarded using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) process, with quotes due by August 8, 2025, at 5:00 PM EDT. Vendors must submit a complete electronic quote including detailed technical specifications, pricing, representations, and certifications. All costs, including shipping, must be included in the firm fixed price quote.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
This requirement is for the acquisition of a Brand Name or Equal PhotoMachining Laser Micro-Machining System, Install, and Training for NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) to support Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD).
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The vendor shall provide a system that consists of the following PhotoMachining brand name or equal major elements:
• Frame and Base
• Motion control
• Software
• Dual Beam delivery
• Camera system
• Laser
• This system shall be capable of micromachining features in a variety of materials through laser ablation or surface modification.
• The system shall include a dual galvanometer beam delivery enabling it to achieve focused spot sizes of < 25 microns on target.
• Carbide CB3-40-0200-10-H with CBM03-2H-3H module operating at 1030, 515 and 343 nm wavelengths with maximum power output of 40W at 1030nm and maximum rep rate of 1 MHz.
• The laser beam shall be delivered through a refractive optical system that uses a galvanometer for beam control.
• The system shall include a 1000mm x 500mm travel X/Y table with 40um per period 1V P-P sinusoidal encoders with manufacturer’s error mapping to achieve +/-5um accuracy over 400mm of travel.
• The system shall be fully enclosed and interlocked meeting the requirements of Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) Class I laser operation.
• The vendor shall also install the laser system at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) and provide training.
