Text version

Q1: Nitrogen generators are not 100% uptime guaranteed due to the cryogenic nature of the process. Therefore a backup system would be required. SSC already has a liquid nitrogen bulk setup with pumps and vaporizers. Is it possible for the Government to provide how many tanks and what size in gallons are those tanks, for the purposes of this RFI?

A1: No. NASA SSC's current model has sufficient capacity to supply the site with HPGN via LN conversion. Therefore, for the purposes of this RFI, SSC is not interested in a LN backup system. NASA SSC is interested in a solution with redundancies in place such that a minimum flow is always maintained utilizing only Atmospheric Nitrogen Generators.

Q2: In reviewing the parameters for the requirement additional information is needed. In order to determine the best possible match for equipment it would be helpful to know the flow rate (Question #8 on page 7).

A2: There is no available GN2 flow metering data. The only reliable flow rate data is the approximate daily volumetric consumption – 100 tons of LN (approximately 2.8 Million scf per day of GN2 at Standard Temperature and Pressure).
