Q1: What pressure is actually required? Would 3,000 psig work, despite asking for 4,000 psig? We are wondering if you are using your pipelines as a buffer tank, but you don’t necessarily need the 4,000 psig for end user applications (we want to save you power if this is the case).
A1: 4,000 psig is required.
Q2: How long is your existing pipeline network?
A2: Approximate daily volume consumption – 100 tons of LN. The length of the existing pipeline network should not be required for the manufacture of the GN2 for an equivalent consumption of 100 tons of LN per day. If the length of the pipeline effects the production/manufacture of GN2 please address in your response to this RFI.
Q3: Do you have any sort of nitrogen flow metering?
A3: There is no available GN2 flow metering data.
Q4: Does your nitrogen demand vary from day to night?
A4: Demand is relatively constant from day to night.
Q5: Do you need us to back up the nitrogen generator with liquid nitrogen supply (and pricing)?
A5: No. We are looking for modern options that meet our pressure, flow, and redundancy requirements. Our requirement is for ‘no downtime’ (maintain Minimum site pressure – 2700 psig at all times), we are specifically trying to be non-prescriptive in how this requirement is met.
Q6: How large is your backup liquid nitrogen system? This helps us understand our supply logistics A6: There is no backup liquid Nitrogen system. Our current system utilizes inherent redundancies through use of multiple pumps. For the purposes of this RFI, the existing liquid nitrogen generation system is not available.
Q7: Is there water available for cooling of rotating machinery?
A7: Yes. Non-potable water is available.
Q8: Is the civil work in your scope or ours? This would be all encompassing of civil design of the concrete and construction.
A8: NASA/SSC scope. We need an itemized list of the requirements to implement any proposed solution i.e. graded land, utility drop, cooling water, etc.
Q9: What is your power rate? This helps us balance out peak shaving with liquid nitrogen, depending on the value.
A9: It varies. For the purposes of this RFI, identify annual kwh usage. For the purposes of this RFI, the existing liquid nitrogen generation system is not available.
