About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for a near infrared focal plane array camera. The solicitation does not specify an interface type for the camera, stating that USB3 is preferred but not required, and that Cameralink, GigE or other interfaces would also be acceptable. The camera is intended to mount on a spectrometer for imaging purposes, so no lens is needed and field of view or target distance are not relevant factors. However, the camera aperture must be sufficiently large to accept the f/6.5 aperture of the spectrometer input.

Question:

My understanding is the requirement is now for a camera with USB3 port. Can you confirm this change or is the requirement still for cameralink model?

Answer:

The solicitation does not specify an interface type. That said, we would prefer

USB3 but did not make it a requirement. Cameralink, GigE or other would also be acceptable.

Question:

Need to know the customers desired field of view, as well as the distance from the camera to the target.

Answer:

The camera is mounted on a spectrometer, the spectrometer performs the function of focusing and imaging, so no lens is required and FOV/target distance are not relevant. The spectrometer is f/6.5 so the aperture of the camera requires sufficiently large aperture to accept this input.
