About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document clarifying specifications for aluminum grating materials in a federal contract opportunity.
The document addresses six inquiries from potential offerors regarding material sourcing, spacing specifications, and construction standards. Key clarifications include: (1) material must conform to the Buy America Act, establishing a domestic sourcing requirement; (2) Standard 19-W-4 spacing with 1-3/16" bearing bar centers and 4" cross bars in swaged construction is acceptable; (3) both 6063-T6 and 6063-T52 aluminum alloys meet the specification of "6063-T52 or equivalent"; and (4) Standard 19-W-4 spacing is required for bearing bar center-to-center and cross bar center-to-center dimensions. The responding government official clarified that grating spacing follows the Standard 19-W-4 specification and noted uncertainty regarding one question's intent but confirmed the spacing requirement in response. This Q&A document serves to provide uniform guidance to all potential contractors on material sourcing compliance and technical specifications prior to proposal submission.

Questions and Answers
1. Please let me know is this material should be Domestic/DFAR or if Imported would work for this project? Material must conform to the Buy America Act.
2. The SOW does not state bearing bar spacing or construction. Please confirm that standard 19-W-4 spacing (1-3/16" bearing bar centers, cross bars at 4") in swaged construction is acceptable, and that 6063-T6 aluminum meets "6063-T52 or equivalent." Standard 19-W-4 spacing is acceptable. 6063-T6 and 6063-T52 aluminum are acceptable.
3. Bearing bar spacing (center-to-center). Standard 19-W-4 spacing is required.
4. Cross bar spacing (center-to-center). Standard 19-W-4 spacing is required.
5. Could you please let us know the spacing you need? If there's a standard you normally follow (for example 1-3/16" or 1-1/2" on center), just send us the numbers and we'll take care of the rest. Standard 19-W-4 spacing is required.
6. I saw the SOW, but have not show the opening, it will influence the oƯer, so pls advise. I do not understand this question, but I think it is referring to grating spacing.
