About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document from a Request for Quotation (RFQ) containing clarifications on material specifications for a piping assembly.
The document addresses two key technical questions regarding material specifications in the Statement of Work. First, it confirms that the 4" 90 degree long radius elbow (Schedule XXS) must be fabricated from ASTM A234 WPC carbon steel as originally specified, despite all other components in the assembly being 304/304L stainless steel. Second, it clarifies that the 6" pipe specified as Schedule 10S seamless stainless steel must remain seamless; welded pipe is not an acceptable alternative, even if seamless pipe cannot be sourced within the 16-week lead time requirement. These responses establish firm material requirements that bidders must meet without substitution or deviation.

RFQ QUESTIONS
1. The Statement of Work lists the 4" 90 degree long radius elbow (SCH XXS) as ASTM A234 WPC, which is a carbon steel grade, while all other items are 304/304L stainless. Please confirm whether the elbow should be ASTM A234 WPC (carbon steel) as written, or ASTM A403 WP304/304L stainless to match the rest of the assembly.
Yes, the 4” 90 degree long radius elbow (SCH XXS) should be carbon steel.
2. The 6" pipe is specified as SCH 10S seamless.
Seamless pipe in this thin wall has limited mill availability. Would welded ASTM A312 TP304/304L SCH 10S pipe be acceptable if seamless cannot be furnished within the 16 week lead time?
Welded pipe is not acceptable.
