About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for research services focused on Mars atmospheric analysis and climate evolution studies. The contractor shall continue work on the interpretation of Mars atmospheric data using the Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) instrument suite, with a specific focus on publishing results related to methane, CO2 isotopes, and volume mixing ratios. The work leverages in situ SAM data as the primary source, supplemented by related remote sensing data from ground-based telescopes and spacecraft. The ultimate objective is to make significant progress toward understanding the climate evolution and habitability of Mars.
The place of performance is the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a period of performance from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2028. The SOW emphasizes that Prof. Atreya, a world-renowned expert in atmospheric physics and planetary systems, will contribute to interpreting SAM results, thereby enabling the project to advance understanding of Mars' climate evolution.
