About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of a stackable set of tuned, calibrated screens designed for the NASA Ames WindShape fan array located in Building M45 at Moffett Field, California. The screens will be used by Code A researchers to simulate urban air mobility environments with controlled turbulence intensity levels for rotorcraft testing and vertiport model evaluations.

The screens must meet specific technical requirements: be sized to the exact dimensions of the Ames WindShape, securely attach using conventional T-rail connectors, stack together with each layer providing calibrated turbulence reduction, and withstand high wind speeds produced by the fan array. The delivery requirement is within six weeks of purchase to the NASA Ames Receiving Warehouse, with NASA Ames responsible for transferring the screens to Building M45. No pricing terms, response dates, award dates, or set-asides are specified in this document.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements

Code A research projects in urban air mobility require the purchase of a stackable set of tuned, calibrated screens to create flowfields with various levels of turbulence intensity. These screens will be attached to the existing WindShape fan array in the NASA Unmanned Autonomy Research Center at NASA Ames. Flowfield turbulence intensity is a key parameter influencing the behavior of rotorcraft, especially in urban environments. With this stackable set of screens, Code A researchers will be able to create laboratory simulations of urban environments with various levels of flowfield turbulence using the Ames WindShape and physical models of future vertiports.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The set of screens must be:

a) sized to the exact dimensions of the Ames WindShape

b) able to be securely attached to the Ames WindShape using conventional T-rail connectors

c) stackable (attachable) to each other, with each screen layer providing a calibrated level of turbulence reduction.

d) able to withstand the high windspeeds capable of being produced by the Ames

WindShape

3. Place of Performance

The screens will be attached to the Ames WindShape fan array. The Ames WindShape is currently located in building M45 in the NASA Ames Research Park.

Moffett Field, CA 94035

4. Period of Performance

The screens should be delivered within six weeks of purchase to the NASA Ames Receiving Warehouse. NASA Ames will arrange for the transfer of the screens to M45.
