About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document addressing contractor inquiries regarding partition panel specifications and compliance requirements for a cleanroom work area.

The document clarifies five key requirements: (1) FOD compliance must demonstrate adherence to the Visibly Clean Standard per KPL-PLN-50007 and KPL-PLN-50008, with standard cleaning instructions provided if initial compliance is not met, and implementation must show no shedding or particulate generation; (2) StretchTex material must be printed black rather than substituting black fabric, while the frame does not require black coating as it will be covered with a slip cover, and base oval feet do not need to be black; (3) panels function as visual barriers in various configurations and do not require interconnection but must be positioned as closely as practical or overlapping to minimize gaps in square or rectangle layouts; (4) StretchTex is the only authorized material for this application, as it is the sole material already evaluated and approved on the materials list with no further compatibility assessment required; and (5) light blocks are not requested for this application, and any substitution questions require additional context. These specifications ensure compliance with cleanroom environmental standards while maintaining cost efficiency and functional performance.

Text version

How do we show compliance for the partitions to demonstrate the resistance to creation of foreign object debris (FOD) in the cleanroom work area as outlined in KPL-PLN-50007 and

KPL-PLN-50008.

Is this just a matter of sending our standard cleaning instructions?

The focus of KPL-PLN-50007 and KPL-PLN-50008 is to show the ability to comply with Visibly Clean (VC) Standard, have standard cleaning instructions should it not meet VC to get into compliance, and through implementation and cleaning not show any signs of shedding or generation of particular/FOD.

If panels are being printed black, can we just use black fabric to save money? Or is the frame to be powder coated black even though it is covered with fabric?

StretchTex material comes standard in a white material, color change to black is done through printing. Material color requested is black.

Frame does not need to be black as the preference is for a slip cover which would encapsulate the frame. The base oval feet do not need to be black.

How are these panels being used in the space? Do they need to connect together?

Panels are being used to create a visual barrier in a variety of size/shape configurations.

The panels do not need to connect together, but need to be able to get as close as practical or overlap (side by side at the ends) to minimize any gaps as much as practical based on the shape. Will be used generally in a square or rectangle configuration.

Is a suitable equivalent to StretchTex acceptable?

No. StretchTex is the only material that has already been evaluated and authorized for use in this application inside the clean work area. It is on the approved materials list and no further action is required to assess compatibility with the processing environment.

Can we substitute a printable light block on one side for the sewn in light block?

A light block is not requested for this application. Would need more context for the question.
