About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the design, fabrication, and testing of vacuum jacketed flexible hoses for the RS25 rocket engine test facility at Stennis Space Center supporting the Artemis program.

The contractor must design, fabricate, and test six vacuum jacketed flex hoses: three 1/2" x 7' hoses rated for liquid hydrogen with a working temperature of -425°F and three identical hoses rated for liquid oxygen with a working temperature of -300°F. All hoses must have female JIC fittings on both ends, be rated for 500 psig working pressure and 1000 psig proof pressure, and be constructed of ASTM A312 TP 316/316L stainless steel for both inner pipe and outer jacket. Both variants require cleaning to RPTSTD-8070-0001 Level 400 (hydrogen) and Level 400A (oxygen) specifications. The contractor must deliver a Certificate of Conformance, test summary reports documenting pressure tests and helium mass spectrometry leak checks, dimensional drawings, certified material test reports, vacuum port specifications including make and model numbers for both the port and mating head, and contract numbers for two prior government contracts involving similar items. The period of performance and leadtime for delivery is 12 weeks from order.

STATEMENT OF WORK

The RS25 rocket engine is utilized to launch the Artemis rocket that will send astronauts back to the moon. Each RS25 engine is flight certified at Stennis Space Center on the Fred Haise Test Stand. The RS25 uses liquid hydrogen(LH) and liquid oxygen(LOX) as its fuel and oxidizer. The Fred Haise Test Stand provides the LH and LOX. To ensure the purity of the LH and LOX, the facility run tanks must be sampled periodically.

Vacuum jacketed flex hoses are required for this sample process.

Design, fabricate, and test the following vacuum jacketed flex hoses:

• Qty 3 –

• 1/2” x 7’ vacuum jacketed flexible hose

• female JIC both ends

• rated for liquid hydrogen

• Working Pressure: 500 psig

• Proof Pressure: 1000 psig

• Working Temperature: -425F

• Clean: RPTSTD-8070-0001 Level 400

• Inner pipe and outer jacket will be ASTM A312 TP 316/316L
