About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a contract for 120 Science Pump Corporation (SPC) Electrochemical Concentration Cell (ECC) ozonesondes to support long-term atmospheric research at Wallops Island and Natal, Brazil. The order requires operators at these stations to prepare, launch, and collect data from the ozonesondes, which will then be sent to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The instruments are critical for maintaining multi-decadal balloon-borne ozone profile records used for satellite validation, pollution trend analysis, and climate studies.

The performance period spans approximately one year, from September 2025 to August 2026. Shipping will be to NASA/GSFC, which will then distribute the instruments to the respective stations. The specific requirement emphasizes using SPC ozonesondes to ensure consistency with existing measurement records and compatibility with current ground data collection systems at both research stations. This procurement represents a continuation of ongoing scientific monitoring and research efforts in atmospheric and climate science.

STATEMENT OF WORK

2025 Wallops Island and Natal Station SPC Ozonesonde Order

Background

• The long-term ozonesonde measurement stations at Wallops Island and Natal, Brazil, need to continue their multi-decadal balloon borne ozone profile records for satellite validation, ozone and pollution trends, and climate studies. This requirement is for 120 Science Pump Corporation (SPC) Electrochemical

Concentration Cell (ECC) ozonesondes. The SPC ozonesonde is required to ensure consistency with the existing Wallops and Natal records, and compatibility with the ground data collection systems currently in place at both stations.

Scope

• The operators at the Wallops and Natal stations shall prepare, launch, and collect the data from the SPC ozonesondes, and send the data to NASA/GSFC in

Greenbelt, MD.

• These instruments will be shipped to NASA/GSFC in Greenbelt, MD, and distributed to the stations thereafter.

Place of Performance

• This work (launching these instruments on free-flying weather balloons) will be performed at the Wallops Island and Natal, Brazil, ozonesonde stations.

Period of Performance

• This order represents an approximately one-year supply of SPC ozonesondes to be launched from ~September 2025 to August 2026.
