About this file

This is a Questions & Answers document for a NASA solicitation seeking 120 custom acrylic floating frames with hardware. The document clarifies specifications for frames that will hold 30" x 40" posters, requiring 34" x 44" acrylic panels with rounded corners.

The frames must use 1/4" thick acrylic for the back panel and 1/8" thick clear acrylic (not non-glare) for the front panel to match previously fabricated frames. Hardware specifications include 3/4" x 1" brushed nickel standoffs/caps, available in silver, gold, or black finishes. The delivery location is specified as NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. A vendor's suggestion to use 32" x 44" frames for cost savings was rejected in favor of maintaining the required 34" x 44" size to properly accommodate the 30" x 40" posters.

Ques ons and Answers

1. Please note we offer this frame with silver, gold, or black hardware. Which color would you like?

Frame specifica ons: acrylic - 34x44” sandwich 1/8" acrylic, rounded corners, holes with 3/4"x1" with brushed nickel standoffs/caps/hardware

2. Could you please confirm 34” x 44” is the required, actual dimensions of the acrylic and not your poster size? Poster size is 30x40” so frame size should be 34x44”

3. Can we advise if we know if the 34x44 is the overall acrylic size for posters that are smaller?

Poster size is 30x40” so frame size should be 34x44”

4. I see that there is men on of building these displays using 1/8" Acrylic and wanted to suggest that you have these built with 1/4" Acrylic. We can fabricate them to spec if you are certain you would like 1/8" however the 1/8" acrylic would be very wavy and would not give you a quality look and feel. We have been building these types of displays for over 20 years and would not recommend 1/8" for such a large size. Please let us know if we should quote in 1/8" anyway or if you would like them quoted in 1/4" acrylic? The back should be 1/4” thick acrylic and the front piece should be 1/8” thick acrylic. We need them to match the previously fabricated ones for consistency.

5. I no ced that they are reques ng a 34x44. The standard size we fabricate is 32x44 as the material yield is more cost effec ve thus be er price point. Please advise if a 32x44 would be acceptable? If not, we can custom fabricate any size, they want but the 34x44 price is higher.

The size of 34 x 44” is what we need so they accommodate our 30 x 40” posters.

6. Can you confirm the following specifica ons for the acrylic frames?

a. Order Amount: 120

b. Panel size: 34" x 44" (inserts 30" x 40")

c. Back Panel: Clear Acrylic, rounded

d. Front Panel: Clear Acrylic, rounded

e. 3/4" D x 1" Brushed nickel standoffs, or equivalent

Correct

7. What is the delivery address so I can calculate shipping into the quote?

Engineering and Technology Directorate Building 11, Room C200 C/O: NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center 8800 Greenbelt Road Greenbelt, MD 20771

8. The front panel can be "clear acrylic" or "non-glare". Which of these would you prefer?

Clear acrylic
