About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for a Load Moment Indicator (LMI) for a Broderson 8K lbs. Mobile Crane, Model IC-35-2B. The contract is a Brand Name or Equal To requirement, set aside for small businesses. The government is seeking a replacement LMI system, as the current one is inoperable. The vendor must provide all new LMI equipment, brackets, hardware, and cabling, as the government does not want to reuse any existing parts. The work can be performed on-site at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, Edwards AFB, CA, or the vendor can transport the crane to their facility at no cost or liability to the government. The current inoperative LMI has a model number of LSI GS 550. The delivery location is NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, Edwards AFB, CA 93523, with a net 30 FOB Destination payment term.

Vendor Question and Answers – Load Moment Indicator

80NSSC24879860Q

Vendor Question Blue/Customer Response Red

Question 1: Does this unit need to be ATEX-approved? Yes

Question 2: Will this be a replacement LMI system for an already installed system or does the unit not have a LMI and you would like one installed?

• The Broderson IC-35-2B crane has an inoperable original factory LMI.

However, the bidders/vender shall not assume nor plan to use or reuse any existing parts of the LMI hardware. The bidders shall provide all new LMI equipment, brackets, miscellaneous hardware, and cabling compatible with the Broderson IC-35-2B crane.

• The bidder shall assume and treat the new LMI equipment installation as though the Broderson IC-35-2B crane never had an LMI installed.

Question 3: Will work be performed on-site, or can we transport it to our facility?

• To control the cost of the LMI installation (typically a one-day effort), it’s likely more cost-effective to install it on-site at NASA AFRC, Edwards AFB, CA. 93523.

• If the vendor wishes to transport the Broderson IC-35-2B crane to their facility at no cost or liability to the government to install the LMI, that’s acceptable.

• Note: If the Broderson IC-35-2B crane is move off-site for bidder/vender installation. The period of performance to return the to NASA (government) remains unchanged.

Question 4: I see you are after an 8K Load Cell for a Broderson attached. What LMI system is on this Crane now? The current inoperative LMI has no . serial number, but its model number is LSI GS 550.
