About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a revised requirement for an optical microscope with elemental analysis capabilities. The key details are:
The system must provide high-quality 3D images, include a metallurgical lens turret, quantify particles/features by contrast and color, have a fully motorized xyz stage to stitch together high-resolution images, accommodate samples over 8" long, provide 3D surface area measurements for roughness, and have an elemental quantitative analysis capability with 1-3% accuracy for light elements. The microscope will primarily be used for metal alloys and secondarily for ceramic materials. The period of performance is no later than 3 days after award, and the place of performance is NASA's Glenn Research Center.
The related federal contract opportunity is a sole source procurement for a Keyence VHX-X1 3D microscope with elemental analysis. NASA's Shared Services Center intends to award a sole source contract to Keyence Corporation of America under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) as the sole provider of the required system. Interested parties may submit capabilities information by 8:00 am CST on 8/23/2024 to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted.

REVISION TO THE SOW:
Statement of Work and Specifications for optical microscope with elemental analysis
1. The system shall provide high quality 3D images
2. The system shall include a ZMT metallurgical lens turret.
3. The system shall be capable of quantifying particles and features by contrast and color.
4. The system shall have a fully motorized xyz stage to automatically stitch together several high-resolution images.
5. The stage shall accommodate samples that are greater than 8” in length. A 300mm X
300mm stage is desirable.
6. The system shall provide 3D surface area measurements to obtain Ra/Rz values for surface roughness.
7. The system shall have an elemental quantitative analysis capability with an accuracy range of 1 to 3 % by weight for the measurement of light elements.
8. The elemental analysis capability shall be integrated into the microscope for in situ analysis of the sample.
9. Microscope will primarily be used for metal alloys. Secondarily, the microscope will be used for analysis involving ceramic materials.
Period of Performance: NLT 3 Days ARO Place of Performance: GRC - Glenn Research Center, 44135-3191
