Q: Do you need certifications for the stress relief cycle?
A: No. if there is a standard that is followed, or a company standard that is followed please provide that. The AMS standard only applies to ageing and heat treatment.
Q: “For evaluation of bid, supplier shall provide description and applicable standards used for: Stress Relieving process, Heat-treat process, HIP process.” The RFQ was changed to specify a heat treat and HIP cycle. Can this line of the RFQ be changed to reflect that the description and applicable standards used for heat treat and HIP are provided by NASA?
A: although the standards were provide please provide the information asked for. This will be used for documentation and presentations.
Q: Is there a specific numbering scheme we need to use for part ID, or do we just need to make sure each part is uniquely identified?
A: Table 2 in the RFQ details the part identification
Q: The RFQ states that the IQI part should go through stress relief. Does an IQI part need to be built on the platforms that are going to get heat treated and HIP'd as well or just on the as-stress relieved platforms?
A: One IQI part needs to be built on each build platform. If heat treated parts and non-heat treated parts are built on the same platform, then IQI does not need to be heat treated. The IQI part does not require HIPping, but if the HIPping is done on the build plate, then the IQI part can remain on the plate.
