About this file
This is a Surety Requirements form for Chatham County, Georgia, establishing bonding requirements for contractors bidding on the Temporary Traffic Signal project at State Route 204 and Old River Road. The project involves furnishing materials and labor for installation of a temporary traffic signal at the intersection of State Route 204/Fort Argyle Road with Old River Road, including minor grading, traffic signal equipment, striping, and signing. This temporary installation will remain in place until funding for a future roundabout is secured. Bidders must submit their bid bond along with power of attorney documentation as part of their bid package, and the county will accept either surety's standard bid bond forms or other bonding instruments that comply with the specified requirements.
Contractors are required to post a bid bond, certified check, or money order equal to 5 percent of the bid price made payable to the Chatham County Finance Department, which must be delivered to the Purchasing and Contracting Office prior to bid submission. If awarded the contract, the contractor must provide a payment and performance bond equal to 100 percent of the bid price, due prior to contract execution, to guarantee that goods meet specifications, timely delivery, quality service performance, and prompt payment to subcontractors. All bonds must be executed by a surety authorized to conduct business in Georgia and approved by Chatham County. The county retains the right to require performance and payment bonds of a specific kind and origin. Bid bonds will be forfeited if the bidder fails to enter into the contract, with forfeiture amounts calculated as either the difference between the bidder's bid and the next lowest responsible bid or the difference between the bid and the lowest responsible bid received through rebidding, including all rebidding costs.
