About this file
The document is a Heat Protection Safety Requirement specification targeting vendors and contractors for a project involving outdoor work. The document mandates that all project Safety Plans must include comprehensive guidance for worker safety during adverse weather conditions, with a specific focus on heat-related protection. When temperatures reach or exceed 90 degrees (by temperature or heat index), the Prime Contractor is required to implement a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan that includes provisions for worker acclimatization, access to water, rest periods, and shade.
The specification requires vendors to acknowledge and agree to these safety requirements by signing the Bid Acknowledgement at the time of submission. The document emphasizes that during extended periods of adverse weather conditions, the Prime Contractor must provide appropriate accommodations for workers as deemed necessary. By signing, vendors commit to following these heat protection safety guidelines throughout the execution of their work, demonstrating a proactive approach to protecting worker health and safety in potentially challenging environmental conditions.
