About this file

This document is a Heat Protection Safety Requirement specification for a construction or outdoor work project, outlining comprehensive worker safety guidelines for adverse weather conditions. The document mandates that all project Safety Plans must include provisions for protecting workers from heat-related and cold-related illnesses, with specific requirements for when temperatures exceed 90 degrees (by temperature or heat index). The Prime Contractor is required to provide necessary accommodations during extended periods of adverse weather, which may include implementing a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan with provisions for worker acclimatization, water access, rest periods, and shade.

Vendors must acknowledge and agree to these heat protection safety requirements by signing the Bid Acknowledgement at the time of submission. The specification emphasizes worker safety as a critical component of project execution, ensuring that contractors take proactive measures to protect workers from potential heat-related health risks during outdoor or high-temperature work environments. By mandating these provisions, the document aims to create a comprehensive framework for maintaining worker well-being and preventing heat-related illnesses during project implementation.
