About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics for Acquisitions file detailing specifications for two boats for the 7th Special Forces Group Airborne (7th SFG(A)). The boats are designed for Special Operations maritime training and missions, featuring a center console design with twin 150-200 hp outboard engines, an aluminum hull (1/4" thick marine-grade 5086), and capabilities for airborne water operations, combat diver training, and maritime mobility. Key specifications include a 22'-26' length, 4-6 person seating capacity, advanced electronics with radar/sonar/GPS, and comprehensive safety equipment.

The boats require specific technical characteristics across multiple domains: hull construction, engine/propulsion, electrical systems, lighting, deck configuration, and safety features. They include a dual-axle aluminum trailer, USCG and EPA compliance, and extensive warranty coverage (10-year hull warranty, 3-year engine warranty). Additional requirements include underwater dive lights, searchlights, tow points, a wired intercom system, and jack plates for engine management. The boats are intended to support high-risk training and operational scenarios for Special Operations forces, with emphasis on reliability, maneuverability, and mission adaptability.

Salient Characteristics for Acquisitions

7th SFG (A) Boats Purchase

Describe how agency will use boat:

Boat Characteristics:

The two (2) boats will be used extensively for Special Operations maritime training and missions, to include:

• Airborne water operations (parachute water jumps) requiring a stable platform for rapid recovery of personnel and equipment

• Combat diver training and sustainment operations, where shallow draft, stability in rough seas, and redundant twin engines are critical for safe recovery of divers.

• General maritime mobility and infiltration/exfiltration training in both nearshore and offshore environments.

• Center Console design allowed for enhanced visibility and maximized deck space for crew movement, storage, equipment, and customizable locker configurations. Center Console vessels are strong, fast, durable and highly maneuverable, enabling a wide variety of mission applications including response, law enforcement, research, search and rescue (SAR) and dive ops.

• shallow draft for nearshore operations, exceptional stability in heavy seas, and sufficient payload capacity to support personnel, parachute bundles, dive equipment, and associated gear. Twin 150 hp or 200 hp outboard engines provide redundancy and reliability for high-risk training and operational scenarios.

• Aluminum hull is designed to displace kinetic energy while under way.

Aluminum has several distinct advantages over fiberglass, from less day-to-day maintenance to ease of repair. Hull is constructed from marine-grade 5086 aluminum, a bilge-less, and airtight with pressure-tested air chamber.

The boats are USCG compliant, supported under SOCOM’s SSAVIE servicing program, and include an extended manufacturer warranty to ensure life-cycle sustainment.
