About this file

This is a Notice of Intent to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for Ion AmpliSeq reagents under contract number 75N98026Q00637.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) requires AmpliSeq Transcriptome reagents and associated sequencing reagents to identify transcriptional biomarkers from blood samples of Alcohol Use Disorder patients and controls as part of an ongoing research study. Following a pilot study that utilized contract sequencing with a proprietary method, the Government is transitioning to AmpliSeq due to sample and data transfer complications experienced with the previous approach. AmpliSeq is selected for its capability to handle low input quantities of RNA and degraded samples. The reagents will validate AmpliSeq data as an alternative method and extend the dataset to additional study subjects. The Government intends to award this purchase order to Life Technologies Corporation under FAR Part 6.302-1.

Although this notice is not a competitive request, small businesses including 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, and women-owned small businesses may submit written capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform the requirement. The Government reserves the discretion to compete the award based on responses received. Award is anticipated approximately ten days after the notice date unless the Government determines another vendor can meet the requirement. Interested small businesses must email responses to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 11:00 p.m. EDT on June 24, 2026.

Notice of Intent: Ion AmpliSeq reagents

(75N98026Q00637)

In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm- Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Life Technologies Corporation.

The mission of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) is to support and conduct research on the impact of alcohol use on human health and well-being. The AmpliSeq Transcriptome reagents and associated sequencing reagents are required for the identification of transcriptional biomarkers from blood of Alcohol Use Disorder patients and controls as part of an ongoing study. In a pilot study subjects were sequenced on contract using a proprietary method, but the contracting was problematic in terms of sample and data transfer, necessitating a switch to an alternative sequencing approach. AmpliSeq is ideal because it requires low input quantities of RNA and can handle degraded samples. These reagents are required to validate the AmpliSeq data as an alternative to the earlier contract sequencing and to extend the dataset to additional subjects.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any available small businesses (e.g., 8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business) as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates their ability to perform the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.

It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately ten (10) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another vendor has the capability to meet this requirement.

Please email responses to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 11:00 p.m. EDT on June 24, 2026.
