About this file
This is a Notice of Intent to award a sole-source Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order for custom chemical synthesis.
The National Institutes of Health, specifically the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, intends to award a purchase order to Cyclope Bio SL for 200 grams of (1S,2S)-trans-N-Boc-1,2-cyclopentanediamine, a chemical precursor used in synthesizing cyclopentane peptide nucleic acids and thyclotides. The acquisition supports ongoing preclinical research within the Synthetic Bioactive Molecules Section focused on developing molecules for HIV detection, prevention, and treatment, as funded by the NIH Office of AIDS Research. The chemical is necessary to advance the research project to its next developmental stage. While this is not a competitive procurement, small businesses including 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, and women-owned small businesses may submit written capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform the requirement by 11:00 p.m. EDT on June 18, 2026, emailed to david.shen@nih.gov. Notice of Intent: Custom chemical synthesis
(75N98026Q00593)
In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm- Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Cyclope Bio SL.
Within the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry (LBC), the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the Synthetic Bioactive Molecules Section (SBMS) requires the purchase of 200 grams of (1S,2S)-trans-N-Boc-1,2-cyclopentanediamine, a chemical precursor used in the synthesis of cyclopentane peptide nucleic acids and incorporation into thyclotides.
Previous research has demonstrated that these advanced molecules have significant potential for use in medical diagnostics and as clinical candidates for the treatment of cancer and the prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. The SBMS is currently conducting a long-term research project funded by the NIH Office of AIDS Research focused on the development of this class of molecules for the detection, prevention, and treatment of HIV infection. The requested acquisition is necessary to support ongoing preclinical research activities and advance the project to the next stage of development.
