About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the renewal of a support license for the Azenta Life Sciences FreezerPro Sample Management System at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The National Human Genome Research Institute's Undiagnosed Diseases Program (UDP) requires ongoing support and maintenance for FreezerPro, a web-based laboratory information management system that has been in use since 2013 to manage biorepository samples and research reagents across multiple UDP locations in Bethesda, Maryland. The contractor's responsibilities include providing technical support with bioinformatic expertise, minor to moderate scripting refinement, support for Limfinity integration and functionality, maintenance and support for the FreezerPro system, version updates, and concurrent user licenses. The work will be performed at NHGRI's UDP facility located at 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892. The contract period is 12 months beginning July 27, 2026, with acceptance upon delivery. No security requirements, government-furnished property, or government-furnished information are applicable to this engagement.

Statement of Work (SOW)
1. Project Title:
Azenta Life Sciences FreezerPro Support License Renewal
2. Introduction and Background The National Institutes of Health (NIH) mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) mission has expanded to encompass a broad range of studies aimed at understanding the structure and function of the human genome and its role in health and disease. The National Institutes of Health Undiagnosed Disease Program (UDP) is a trans-National Institute of Health (NIH) initiative that focuses on the most puzzling medical cases referred to the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Many medical specialties from other NIH research centers and institutes contribute the expertise needed to conduct the program, including endocrinology, immunology, oncology, dermatology, dentistry, cardiology and genetics, among the dozens of participating senior attending physicians. A longstanding medical condition that eludes diagnosis by a referring physician can be considered undiagnosed and may be of interest to this clinical research program. The goals of the UDP include finding accurate diagnoses and discovering new diseases that provide insight into human physiology and genetics. The UDP was established to evaluate participants who have undiagnosed medical conditions.
3. Statement of Need and Objectives The UDP program makes use of a diverse set of diagnostic and research techniques both to attempt to find a diagnosis and to generate research projects to advance medical knowledge.
Azenta Life Sciences has developed the FreezerPro Sample Management system as a web-based sample inventory system that the UDP uses to manage a complete biorepository of patient and research laboratory samples within the UDP. This inventory management system allows the UDP laboratory to track patient and laboratory samples both in and out of the freezers and perform complete audit trails of all laboratory samples and reagents.
4. Product Specifications/Features/Salient Characteristics FreezerPro, developed and distributed solely by Azenta Life Sciences is a laboratory information management system which allows for sample-based inventory management that is used by the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program since 2013. This system provides a robust mechanism to catalog and track UDP patient and research laboratory samples and reagents across the different building locations of the UDP. Although FreezerPro is a separate entity, it is linked directly to our LIMs system for patient sample storage and cataloging. In this manner, it assists the clinical staff by allowing them to view the samples quality and quantity that are available for clinical testing.
The research laboratory uses this system to catalog all laboratory reagents and stored research components in both the Bldg 50 and Fishers Lane laboratories. This software has allowed all UDP personnel to obtain sample or reagent information that helps to determine patient clinical testing and research opportunities based on what is available in the laboratory at any time. It is imperative that we maintain proper functionality of the current instance as the laboratory relies heavily on this system to catalog patient samples and research samples in multiple locations.
