1. On average, how many 44-gallon regulated medical waste containers are picked up per week?
Answer: Average of containers collected a week is 36 - 37 containers.
2. Are sharps containers segregated from the 44-gallon containers, or are they combined? If they are segregated, could you provide the average number of small, medium, and large sharps containers picked up per week?
Answer: Sharp containers are combined with the regulated medical waste and they are not segregated.
3. How frequently are pharmaceutical waste pickups scheduled?
Answer: Our non-hazardous pharmaceutical waste is collected every week along with the regulated medical waste in a labeled corrugated white box.
4. Do you generate chemotherapy (chemo trace) waste?
Answer: We do not generate chemo waste.
5. We would also appreciate clarification on the following sentence, particularly regarding the reference to the 2,444 storage containers:
a. "Contractor shall provide 2,444 storage containers for regulated medical waste, 52 containers for non-hazardous/hazardous pharmaceutical waste, and 6 containers for CsRx pharmaceutical waste annually."
Answer: For the containers we recommend that we have enough on hand to dispose of our waste.
a. 2,444 containers is for the regulated medical waste at 36 - 37 containers a week for 52 weeks (this may be more at times).
b. Regulated medical waste will possibly be increasing as we are starting to reopen our OR department and scheduling cases.
c. 52 containers for the non-hazardous/hazardous pharmaceutical waste is to store what we remove from departments.
d. Pharmacy is not the only department that disposes of the non-hazardous and hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
e. 6 containers for the CsRx waste is to place the 1 gallon CsRx containers in, so that when they are full we can call for them to get collected.
