B.7 PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF WORK

This performance work statement describes the requirements for reviewing health record encounters and completing medical coding services to support revenue cycle and legal health record functions for the Red Lake Hospital, in Red Lake Minnesota.

BACKGROUND:

The Red Lake Hospital is an acute care hospital in northern MN. The Hospital is currently working to convert to Critical Access Hospital status per Centers for Medicare/Medicare requirements for Indian Health Services (IHS). The Hospital operates a 15-bed inpatient unit, a robust emergency department, and a complement of ambulatory care services including the following: Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Optometry, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, Health Promotion, Public Health Nursing, and various specialty services, such as Nephrology, foot care/surgery, etc. Red Lake Hospital has one satellite clinic, Ponemah Health Center.

Medical Records is an integral part of health care services. Medical coding and correct data entry of services directly impacts every aspect of this Service Unit and is a critical step in the overall revenue cycle. The timely completion of medical coding and data entry is critical to the facility’s ability to optimize third-party reimbursement collections, meet regulatory accrediting requirements for compliance, data quality, and accurate and complete patient health information for health care providers to render treatment, and maintain a complete patient medical record.

Red Lake Hospital requires on-going off-site assistance with completion of specialty medical coding and data entry for Inpatient, Emergency Department (ED), and Behavioral Health (BH) visits documented in the electronic health record system.
