About this file

This file contains Questions and Answers related to a specialized visible range spectrometer solicitation for the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health. The Q&A document addresses technical specifications and requirements for a 1 MHz line scan camera, with specific vendor clarifications on camera capabilities. Key technical points include:

Vendors were informed that: 1) The spectrometer requires a line scan camera with 16384 x 288 pixels, where 288 represents time delay integration rows, 2) 8K cameras are not acceptable, 3) 100GEthernet with 6 G/sec speed without AOC connector is not acceptable, 4) PCIe and bandwidth requirements are not flexible, 5) two 8K cameras might be acceptable if meeting all requirements, and 6) image cropping from inside the camera by reducing ROI could be acceptable if meeting all other specifications. The solicitation is for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, specifically supporting regulatory science work in optical coherence tomography imaging technologies and retinal oximetry validation research.

Questions and Answers

1) The spectrometer is based on the line scan camera, what is meaning of 16384 x 288 pixels. Should it be 2D camera?

We need a line scan camera not a 2D camera. The 288 indicates the number of rows (or stages) used for time delay integration.

2) Our camera uses 8K camera, is it OK?

No

3) Our camera uses 100GEternet for high speed (6 G/sec), and does not provide AOC connector, is it OK?

No

4) Are the PCIe or Bandwidth requirements flexible?

No

5) If you need 16K at 1MHz, would running two 8K cameras be acceptable?

Yes, this can be acceptable if it meets all other requirements.

6) Also our frame grabbers don't have image cropping but you can do this from inside the camera by reducing the ROI, is this acceptable?

Yes, this can be acceptable if it meets all other requirements.
