Statement of Work (SoW) — Typefi Orion Cloud Teams for Emerging Infectious Diseases
(EID)
Background
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the U.S. national public health institute responsible for protecting public health and safety through disease prevention and control, health promotion, and preparedness. Within CDC, the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) conducts and supports surveillance, research, and public health response for newly emerging, re-emerging, and zoonotic infectious diseases. NCEZID publishes the peer-reviewed journal Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID), which communicates timely scientific information on emerging infections to clinicians, public health professionals, researchers, and the global scientific community.
EID requires a robust, secure, and fully supported online system to manage manuscript submission, peer review, editorial decision-making, and post-acceptance production workflows.
Manuscripts submitted to EID include accompanying materials such as figures, tables, photographs, scientific images, videos, checklists, disclosures, and appendices. The system must support the complete lifecycle of a manuscript — from initial submission through peer review and final production — and must integrate with CDC publishing and metadata requirements.
Purpose
To procure, implement, and operate a commercial software subscription and associated implementation services for Typefi Orion Cloud Teams that will replace EID’s legacy eXtyles editorial-production software and provide an online, proprietary system to manage manuscript submission, peer review, editorial workflows, and post-acceptance production tracking for the EID journal. The solution shall include subscription licensing, data migration, configuration, integration with existing systems, training, and ongoing support to ensure continuous, secure, and auditable editorial and production operations.
