About this file
This document is an informational guide about E-Verify requirements for federal contractors, issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in November 2017. As of September 8, 2009, federal contractors and subcontractors must use E-Verify for all new hires and existing employees working on federal contracts that include the FAR E-Verify clause. The requirements apply to prime contracts valued above the Simplified Acquisition Threshold with a performance period of 120 days or more, subcontracts valued over $3,500, and indefinite delivery/quantity contracts with substantial ongoing work.
To comply, contractors must enroll online at www.dhs.gov/E-Verify within 30 days of contract award or modification. The process involves updating the company profile to reflect federal contractor status. Exceptions include commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) items and services. The document provides additional resources such as a toll-free number (1-888-464-4218), email contact (E-Verify@dhs.gov), and free 90-minute webinars to help contractors understand and implement E-Verify requirements.
