ADDITIONAL QUESTONS WITH ASSOCIATED RESPONSES:

QUESTION 20: Fishing Rock and Oaks Reef locations appear to be heavily fractured rock and not intact ledge. We have concerns about drilling a 22” rock socket at these locations as it may likely fracture the rock for the full 10’-12’ depth of the socket which the plans call for, making grouted rock socketing undesirable at this diameter. Should this turn out to be the case, how would the USCG advise these day-markers be installed and secured?

ANSWER: We’ve installed many of these rock-socketed monopiles along the New England coast, and while the rock may appear to be fractured when visible at low tide, we’ve never had any issues installing these. If the contactor is worried about a loss of grout material in the fractures, which most likely not be the case given the viscosity of the grout, they should plan on having an allowance for material loss. Just by being out in the open water and placing grout underwater they should plan on an allowance for lost material regardless.

QUESTION 21: I just received word from our pipe pile suppliers that the specified pilings (NPS 18 SCH

120) cannot be sourced from any of their sources. Please provide an alternative specification for the replacement pipe piles that would be more readily available.

ANSWER: Revised Drawings P14105107S-202_Rev1 and P14105107S-501_Rev1 are incorporated herein; and provide an alternate piling.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO PREVIOUS QUESTIONS:

Pertaining to QUESTION 1, the response is updated as follows to address environmental work restrictions:
