About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for line shaft bearing inspection and service for the United States Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) MIDGETT. The SOW requires an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) certified technical representative from Michell Bearings to inspect the starboard forward and aft line shaft bearings, make necessary adjustments, and replace seals using government-furnished equipment. The work will be conducted in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a performance period from December 1-5, 2025.

The related federal contract opportunity indicates this is a sole-source procurement under FAR Part 12 and 13 procedures, specifically targeting Michell Bearings Limited from the United Kingdom. The contract is classified under NAICS code 336611 (Ship Building and Repairing) with a Product Service Code of J020, and will not be set aside for small businesses. The procurement is being conducted by the Department of Homeland Security's United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center, with the intent to award a firm-fixed-price contract directly to Michell Bearings for specialized shaft bearing inspection services.
