USCGC MUNRO ( WMSL 755 ) DOCKSIDE REPAIRS FY20
Amendment No. 0002
The purpose of this amendment is to:
1. Reply to the following Requests for Clarification:
QUESTION 1: Definite item No: D-08, Carriage and Centerline Winch, Inspection and Test.
Paragraph 3.4.2 states “Remove corrosion from pipe rail and square rail and preserve only the square rail using one coat of epoxy primer and a top coat of PPG Polysiloxane 700 (PSX 700) as described in SFLC Std Spec 6310. Final coat shall be white.” Is this a SP-10 blast and coat, or an SP- 11, power tool clean?
RESPONSE TO QUESTION 1:
Paragraphs 3.4.2 and 3.10.2 for work item D-08 are revised as follows:
Prior to surface preparation and preservation, for both the pipe rails and square rails, conduct an SSPC SP-1 (Solvent Cleaning).
Preserve Pipe Rail IAW SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix A-5, FREEBOARD/SUPERSTRUCTURE/MAST, Freeboard/ Superstructure, Aluminum, Unpainted. If an alternate procedure to remove all visible corrosion from the pipe rail is desired, the procedure can be proposed to the Coast Guard Inspector prior to starting corrosion removal. Following verification by the Coast Guard Inspector, that procedure may be authorized.
Preserve Square Rail IAW SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix A-4, FREEBOARD/SUPERSTRUCTURE/MAST, Freeboard/ Superstructure, Steel, Option III with the following acceptable deviations: Surface preparation may be accomplished by SSPC SP-11 (Power Tool Cleaning to Bare Metal), and a Coating System of 1) Epoxy Primer/Mid-Coat - Polysiloxane Sys, 2) Polysiloxane may be acceptable. The final top coat shall be white
This revision will be incorporated into ATTACHMENT 1, Specifications, at time of award.
