KATHERINE WALKER FY18 DS
Amendment 0001
The following answers are provided:
1. QUESTION: General – Will the Contractor be able to utilize the westernmost section of the pier, adjacent to the bow of the vessel, to park a 20’ office trailer and a 20’ work trailer, and will the 110V power receptacles in the shore power station on the pier be available for the Contractor’s use?
ANSWER: Contractor cannot store any trailers, equipment, or vehicles on the pier itself for a long period of time. The piers must be accessible to emergency vehicles, and buoy hauling equipment. The pier (slip 1) is still used for on/off loading AtoN equipment for other units located at MOTBY. The contractor may use the parking lot, however, space is very limited. (Parking lot is within close proximity of the pier) Contractor shall provide mobile power source.
2. QUESTION General – Please verify that the USCG will provide one fire watch per hot work site, for a maximum of two fire watch personnel.
ANSWER: As per the specification, the Coast guard will provide 2 fire watch personnel as needed (with 24hr notice) Monday thru Friday 0800-1600. The contractor shall provide all appropriate fire extinguishers and additional personnel as needed.
3. QUESTION: Work Item No. 2 – The Lube Oil Cooler on this class of vessel is an engine component and is attached directly to the engine, and is cooled by jacket water, not salt water. Nondestructive inspection (NDI), nondestructive testing (NDT), and nondestructive evaluation are interchangeable terms for NDE. (Please refer to NAVSEA, ABS standards and SFLC Standard specifications.)
1. Contractor shall provide personnel that are qualified / certified welding structural inspectors
2. Recommended but not limited to (Dye Penetrant) (Mag Particle)
3. Please reference SFLC Standard Specifications 0000 / 0740 and 6310

(The drain under the serving line is NOT included)
7. QUESTION: Work Item No. 20 – Will the crew be responsible to remove the miscellaneous gear and other flammable items stored in the spaces that are IWO the hot work?
ANSWER: The Coast Guard will remove loose gear and “non-attached” items from within the workspace as needed, the contractor will be responsible for removing interferences.
8. QUESTION: Work Item No. 16 – Please verify that the refrigerant is Freon 22 as per the manual and that any additional Freon required beyond what is recovered will be per a CFR.
ANSWER: R-22 is the refrigerant that will be used in Heat Pump #4
