About this file
This file is a Request for Information (RFI) Questions and Answers document for the Air Station Elizabeth City Building 54 Bathroom Remodel project. The RFI addresses clarifications on the scope of work, materials, and site conditions for bathroom vanity replacement at a U.S. Coast Guard facility in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
The document provides responses to contractor inquiries across multiple categories: demolition and removal procedures, plumbing work scope, electrical installation requirements, material substitutions, hazardous materials handling, and site conditions. Key determinations include: continuous access to all twelve bathrooms without phasing is available; plumbing scope is limited to like-in-kind reconnection at vanity locations with no drain relocations or vent modifications; electrical work is restricted to light fixture removal and replacement on existing circuits; equivalent or better materials may be proposed without manufacturer-specific matching; new LED fixtures are standalone with no emergency lighting or building automation system integration required; vanities may be extended to the wall or installed freestanding and must be submitted with the bid; mirrors should be replaced with like-size units matching existing dimensions; flooring beneath removed toiletry cabinets must be refinished with carpet provided by the Government; any gypsum wall board damage during demolition is the contractor's responsibility to repair; and soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers will be relocated by Base personnel and are not included in the contract scope. The RFI confirms that all bathrooms are similar in layout and dimensions, requiring field verification of final measurements, and that hazardous materials conditions outside the SOW scope must be reviewed by the Contracting Officer.
