San-Francisco and Lake Michigan Questions & Answers:

1) Question: Slings: Max. block spacing as stated will require increased wheel base at additional cost.

Prior USCG boat hoists lifting the same craft have had standard sling spacing and wheelbase. Why is this required?

Answer: Sector San Francisco and Sector Lake Michigan 45RBM requires 16ft 4inches spacing , 47 MLB requires 12ft 9 inches. Docking plans attached.

2) Question: Please provide drawing and displacement of subject watercraft 45 RBM, 47B & 49A. These are referenced in the specification, but drawings are not provided.

Answer: Drawing attached.

3) Question: Max. Hoist Height- Are maximum heights based on doorways or other site restrictions?

Answer: Sector Lake Michigan is based on the size of Boat House

Sector San Francisco is based on current hoist measurements.

4). Question: Max. Hoist Width- Mobile boat hoist width is strictly based on launching pier configuration.

No information regarding piers has been provided, making it impossible to define equipment width, which is a significant cost factor. Should equipment width be defined by maximum overall width as stated for each location? Final widths can be reduced without added cost. MTI will deploy personnel to measure piers on site pending award.

Answer: Attached pier layouts.

Sector San Francisco

Pier

Haul out pier travel length: 55’4’’

Haul out pier center width: 20’2’’

Haul out pier width (Both): 5’11’’

MBH

Overall length: 25’

Internal Width: 20’7’’

External Width: 24’4’’

Height EST: 25’-28’

5) Question: Hoist Length- Please define “hoist length”. Is this analogous to wheel base, or overall length at ground level, cab, or upper side beams? What factor(s) are dictating maximum hoist length?

Increased block spacing will increase overall length.

Answer: Overall length. Sector Lake Michigan is based on the size of Boat House

Sector San Francisco is based on current hoist measurements.

6) Question: Hoist Weight and Working Load Limit- The stated 24,000 lbs. hoist weight is below the design weight for equipment in this capacity range.

Answer: we can work with manufacturer do determine based on pier rating and usage

Existing MBH San Fran Manufacture: Kleeco, Model: SP1000H4

Existing MBH Lake Michigan Manufacture: Acme, Model: H30, Serial Number: 121682

7) Question: Define “reaction data”.

Answer: ?? I believe that it should have read Technical Data.

8) Question: Drawing submittals will be limited to general arrangement, hydraulic schematic and electrical schematic.

Answer: Technical data package not require until deliveries.

Answer: 3rd party inspection requirements includes 3 Static and 3 Dynamic Weight Tests witness by a

Coast Guard representative.

10) Question: Who will provide test load? If by contractor-o Is a resistance load fixture that tests full machine acceptable?

o Is a water tank with metered flow measurement acceptable?

o Can USCG provide fresh water supply from hydrant to fill test tank?

o Can water be drained on site?

Answer: Resistance load fixture that tests full machine is acceptable. Due to environmental restrictions at these locations, water CAN NOT be drained on site.

11) Question: Define used hoist make and model for each location for costing purposes.

Answer: Sector Lake Michigan Manufacture: Acme, Model: H30, Serial Number: 121682

Sector San Francisco Manufacture: Kleeco, Model: SP1000H4, Serial Number: 112639303
