STATEMENT OF WORK
STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)
FOR
45’ RB-M and 47’ MLB Cardan Shaft Repair and Supply
1.0 GENERAL
1.1 Background
The 45 foot Ready Boat-Medium and the 47 foot Motor Life Boat both have propulsion systems that use a flexible shaft system, known as
“Cardan Shafts”. These shafts are connected between the marine gear and the water jet on the 45’s and between the engine and the marine gear on the 47’s. Both shaft versions are outfitted with universal joints on either end of the shaft. This allows specific angles to be achieved as required by the mounted locations of their prospective equipment by which they are attached.
1.2 Scope
1.2.1 Repair
Inspect, repair, test, crate and ship to United States Coast Guard
(USCG) furnished Cardan shafts (a.k.a. shaft or driveshaft) and associated components derived from the 45’ RB-M (category “A”) and the
47’ MLB (category “B”).
1.2.2 New Issue
In the event a furnished Cardan shaft is determined to be beyond economical repair (BER) during the inspection process, the contractor shall contact the Contracting Officer Representative and request full replacement of shaft and associated components.
1.2.3 Quantity
Contractor shall provide sixty (60) category “A” and forty (40) category “B” repaired Cardan shafts to the USCG.
1.2.4 Warranty
Each new and/or repaired Cardan shaft shall be granted a warranty provided by the contractor for a duration of one (1) year or one thousand (1000) hours of operation, whichever comes first, upon installation on its associated vessel. Warranty should not exceed a duration of two (2) years time in total including time in storage.
Example: Contractor delivered a repaired Cardan shaft to the USCG on
01JAN18. It was installed on a boat on 01JUN19. The reminder of the original warranty is now ending either 01JAN20 or 1000 hours of operation, whichever comes first.
1.2.5 GFP
Government Furnished Property – The Government reserves the right to supply Government Furnished Property (GFP) at any time during the existence of this contract. The contractor shall provide protective storage for the GFP. The items are property of and managed by the USCG
Surface Forces Logistics Center, Baltimore, MD.
