Sketches of a nominal self-propelled boat trailer capable of launching and recovering a 45 ft RB-M are provided below. The following should be noted/considered:
- The winch should be positioned at the height of the bullnose. The measurement provided is from the top of the keel rollers, which is the same as the baseline of the boat.
- The Longitudinal Center of Gravity (LCG) of the boat should be located forward of the aft trailer axle. The
LCG is approximately between 14 ft and 14.6 ft forward of Frame 0 (Transom), depending on the boat’s load condition.
- An adjustable sheave should be provided so that the lift has the ability to redirect the winch wire for the retrieval of boats with a stem pad eye or a lower bullnose/tow post.
