5.0 REPAIR/OVERHAUL
5.1 Repair
A repair is classified as that which does not require complete disassembly of the landing gear assembly in order to return it to RFI status. Firm Fixed Price for a repair constitutes the initial test, evaluation and disassembly with repair of the damaged components to remedy the discrepancy noted on the 1577-2 unserviceable tag or as annotated on the Significant Component History Report (SCHR) accompanying the unit. The Firm Fixed Price shall include replacement of all systematically changed parts as required in accordance with the CMM. A repair firm fixed price shall also include final acceptance testing and storage/packaging of the gear IAW the OEM CMM prior to delivery back to the USCG.
Upon receiving the component(s) a visual and functional inspection shall be completed to confirm the specific fault for which the component(s) were dispatched as noted in the SCHR. Additionally, the contractor shall inspect for missing or broken parts and remove any foreign matter or corrosion that is (or) not related to the specific fault. As noted a DD Form 1577-2/1577-3, Unserviceable (Repairable) Tag-Material, or CG-1577-A (11-90), Unsatisfactory Report Tag, will be attached to each non-Ready For Issue (RFI) item describing faults. In the event the landing gear is not tagged with the reason for removal, contact the Contracting Officer to obtain the reason for removal.
Any item requiring complete disassembly in order to be returned as RFI shall be deemed as requiring an overhaul, as such all work shall be place on hold until approved by the contracting officer. No over and above requests will be accepted for a repair service.
NOTE: If it is determined during the initial test and evaluation that the landing gear does NOT need to be repaired, work shall discontinue until the Contracting Officer has been notified for approval.
5.2 Overhaul
