About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document supporting a U.S. Coast Guard solicitation for server room mini split HVAC unit replacement at USCG BASE Charleston, located at 1050 Register Street, North Charleston, SC 29405. The document addresses contractor inquiries regarding existing equipment specifications and site conditions necessary for accurately sizing and pricing the replacement system.
Key information provided includes: Server Room #1 measures approximately 110 square feet with a 15-foot ceiling, and Server Room #2 measures approximately 108 square feet with a 15-foot ceiling (contractors must verify exact dimensions); the existing refrigerant line-set is approximately 50-60 feet in length; existing equipment nameplate data is unavailable due to equipment wear and lack of legible placards; the spaces contain IT servers, switches, and telephone equipment; and the Government will accept equipment from nationally known vendors including Daikan, Trane, Mitsubishi, and LG, or equivalent properly sized commercial multi-zone systems meeting the Statement of Work requirements. The document notes that photographs of both server rooms, existing HVAC equipment, outdoor condensing units, indoor units, PTAC units, refrigerant and condensate piping, and electrical disconnects/panels are attached, and additional photographs must be requested directly from the contracting officer as they cannot be posted to the solicitation platform. Contractors are reminded that conducting a site visit is highly encouraged to verify work scope, and failure to visit does not relieve bidders of responsibility for properly estimating job difficulty or cost.
