About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the replacement of an automatic cantilever vehicle entry gate at the US Coast Guard (USCG) Sector Northern Great Lakes facility in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. The existing gate has reached the end of its service life, exhibiting structural fatigue in the support posts and wear on the support track. The contractor must provide complete removal and replacement of the gate panel system with a more robust design that matches the aesthetic of the original gate while ensuring long-term durability.

The Base Option scope includes project management with a single point of contact, development of a project schedule for government approval, and delivery of all materials prior to demolition work. The new gate panel must be approximately 38 feet in length and 6 feet 8 inches in height. The contractor shall perform design and submittals, disconnect and remove the existing gate panel and hardware, demolish and remove support posts and concrete footings, excavate and install new support posts with appropriate concrete footings for local soil conditions, fabricate and install the new aluminum gate panel, connect and adjust the gate to the existing operator system, conduct full functional testing with government acceptance, and restore the site. Deliverables include a project schedule, design drawings and specifications, and one-year minimum warranty documentation. Option One adds electrical controller system installation, three photo eye beam detectors for safety, a linear loop detector for automatic exit vehicle opening if needed, and integration with existing call boxes and wired control devices. The period of performance shall not exceed 90 calendar days from award date, with adjustments allowed for weather, material lead times, and fabrication. Work shall be performed Monday through Friday between 0800 and 1600 EST, with special permissions required for weekend or holiday work. The contractor must furnish all facilities, materials, equipment, and services, while the government provides 110vac electrical power and potable water. Replace/install new Vehicle Entry Gate at USCG Sector Northern Great Lakes

1.0 GENERAL

This project provides for the complete removal and replacement of the automatic cantilever vehicle entry gate at the US Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes in Sault Sainte Marie, MI. The existing gate panel has reached the end of its service life, exhibiting signs of structural fatigue to support posts and wear on the support track. The scope of this project includes the demolition, removal and replacement of the current gate panel system for a more robust system. The new gate shall match the aesthetics of the original while ensuring long-term durability and performance.

1.1 BACKGROUND

The government requires the replacement of the primary vehicle entry gate. The existing gate system is failing; main gate panel shows signs of metal fatigue, carriage wheels have worn through the aluminum cantilever support track, the two ground support posts have settled and are no longer plum, compromising stability and operation. The new gate system shall be designed for enhanced durability and longevity to closely match the material and appearance of the existing gate.

1.2 SCOPE

The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary for the removal of the existing gate and the installation of a new gate system. The new gate will be designed to match the aesthetic and material of the existing gate. Design and materials shall be suitable to withstand site environmental conditions.
