TSA SAM-RFQ / 70T05024Q5903N021: ‘Meals Ready-to-Eat’ (MREs) – ASSEMBLED VENDOR QUESTIONS

Question # Document Ref. – Question / Comment Government Response

RFQ/SOW – General Question Is the Government looking for a particular brand of MRE to fulfill the requirement?

No particular MRE Brand or Brand-Name product has been specified in fulfillment of the requirement.

RFQ/SOW – General Question Does TSA favor any specific packaging requirements? That is, does packaging of MREs need to adhere to military packaging and labeling standards?

Commercial packaging of MREs for TSA’s purposes need not adhere to military packaging and labeling standards.

RFQ/SOW – General Question If the Government doesn’t favor any specific brand of MRE, is there a ‘basic’ product the Government finds acceptable as a matter of example?

In the past, the Government has found the XMRE BLUELINE product by NEX-XOS to be wholly acceptable.

RFQ/SOW – Alternate MRE Brands Would the Government be open to considering alternate brands such as ‘MRE Star’ or ‘Sopako’ in meeting its MRE requirement?

The Government does not favor any specific brand-name product for this requirement. All commercially competitive MRE offerings will be considered.

RFQ/SOW – Re: Flameless Ration Heaters for MREs Would vendors need to include ‘Flameless Ration Heaters’ in their bid with each MRE meal since no reference is made by the Government in the RFQ/SOW?

The Government does not require the use of Heaters, so long as the MREs are guaranteed fresh – that is, manufactured in 2024.
