BACKGROUND
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a component of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is the Federal government agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States. There are approximately 30,525 government employees and contractors working at more than 200 offices across the world delivering immigration-related services to people throughout the world.
The USCIS SharePoint is primarily utilized as the agency’s information and collaboration web platform. USCIS has approximately 30,525 registered SharePoint users across two major web applications, Enterprise Collaboration Network (ECN) and USCIS Connect. These web applications process on average about 7,000 queries per day. In addition, USCIS maintains some critical customized SharePoint applications, which are used to process immigration claims and refugee processing. These customized applications require changes, modifications, or expert technical oversight as required by the user community. Currently, there are approximately 7,500 sites and subsites within the ECN and USCIS Connect web applications. These sites and subsites contain an estimated 5,500 InfoPath forms, 5,000 workflows, and are housed within 84 site collections. Both web applications currently consume approximately 3.7 terabytes of content.
USCIS continues to modernize to fully take advantage of emerging new web technologies and features offered by SharePoint and Microsoft. This allows for USCIS to meet the growing and demanding SharePoint web collaboration needs of the USCIS user community.
SCOPE OF REQUIREMENT
