About this file

This document contains responses to questions regarding early warning systems at four Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers locations. The responses provide details on the existing CommanderOne mass notification system from Federal Signal, including the computer equipment, radio components, antennas, and number of remote pole-mounted speakers, controllers, power supplies and antennas at the Glynco, Charleston, and Artesia sites. The Cheltenham location currently has no system installed. The document also states there are sixteen, three and ten utility poles at Glynco, Charleston and Artesia respectively that support the remote equipment. Specifications are provided for replacement utility poles, noting they should be 50 feet tall treated wooden poles meeting wind requirements. Clarification is provided that the Artesia site has one shared base station and antenna to cover both the main campus and range, while the other locations each have independent systems.

Are the Artesia and Charleston systems the same manufacturer with similar setups other than quantities of pole mounted hardware? My other question is for Artesia, is there just one base station and antenna or two (separate systems for main campus and range)?

Response:

Correct, all 3 sites are the same manufacturer Federal Signal – CommanderOne. All sites have the 1 computer and head-end equipment located in the Security Dispatch centers. Only difference in sites are the amount of pole equipment.

Artesia just has the 1 base station and antenna. The Range poles are capable of reaching the Main Campus base station for signals.
