About this file

This document contains an amendment to a solicitation for installing copper and fiber optic cables at a new simulated border wall facility in Artesia, New Mexico. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center is seeking quotes to install copper and fiber optic cables to connect buildings within the new facility, with work including installing cable in conduits and handholes. Quotes are due by August 4, 2022 and the requirement is set aside for small businesses. The amendment provides responses to contractor questions, clarifying that fiber optic connectors should be SC-type, fiber panels should be rack mounted, pathways have been verified, and other installation details such as conduit depths and handhole specifications.

1. In the bid you state LC-type fiber connectors in 4.1.6 and 5.8, but SC were mentioned during our site visit and it’s stated in the amendment answers (#3) that you’re requesting 12-port high-density modules, which are typically SC. Which type do you require? SC

2. Will Corning be a suitable replacement for Superior? Yes as long as the modules fit properly in the patch panel box

3. Section 5.4 and 5.5 state both fiber panels will be rack-mounted. Is 4.1.9, wall-mounted fiber panel, still requested? No, They should be rack mounted.

4. Section 5.3 states three 3” 3-cell Maxcells in one conduit. Is this accurate or, based on the total amount of Maxcell requested in 4.1.5, do you want to split the 16,000ft between the two conduits? Split between two conduits

5. Provide new verified pathways.

6. Confirm that bollards will be required during manholes only within perimeter fencing of main training ground. Out in the desert no bollards shall be needed, please confirm. That is correct

7. Confirm Fiber markers are required. That is correct

8. Provide utility locates and depths. There is existing electrical service right by the shooting range and new service (recently trenched) out on the desert. The electrical cabling is at 48”. The new fiber duct bank should be installed at 36”

9. Will any bonding be required on this project. Bonding? Please clarify

10. Confirm that handholes shall be the smaller concrete HH’s not the 4’x4’. The handholes should be traffic rated concrete 2’x 4’
