5. Question: Will the worksite be required to be fenced off from the public?
Answer: No. This is an active area needed by the port. If it is necessary to close off the work area for a short period of time to allow work to be performed safely, the Contractor shall request approval from the Port and schedule such closures in advance through a designated point of contact to be provided after award. See Amendment #A0002.
6. Question: The SOW says: “The top canopy shall be installed in (3) three panels.” The way I interpret this is that --- if you have panel 20 x 30 you want 3 sections at 10 x 30. Is this correct? Is this what you want for any size panels?
Answer: Three separated sections are required to equal the overall length. Each section shall be approximately 1/3 of the total length and total width. See Amendment #A0002.
7. Question: The SOW says: “Shade Canopy Material Requirements: The canopies shall be made out of 95% outdoor shade fabric.” What do you mean by 95% outdoor fabric? Is your fabric waterproof meaning that water will not pass through it? Or can it?
Answer: The fabric is not waterproof. The fabric is required to have a 95% shade factor minimum.
8. Question: The tolerances for custom fabric are 4 inches meaning if you want 10 feet it might be 9'8 or 10'4". Is this acceptable?
Answer: Yes, this is acceptable. The contractor is responsible for field-verifying measurements.
9. Question: Do you want grommeted panels?
Answer: The existing shade structure and support system does not have grommets. If the contractor suggests a system that uses grommets, it will have to be approved in the shop drawing process.
10. How do you want to secure panels to the existing structure?
Answer: The panels shall be secured in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements. See Amendment #A0002.
11. What are the operational hours of the port?
Answer: The port is operational 24/7/365. However, on-site work is limited to the work hours defined in Section III.12 of the Statement of Work (“Work Hours”).
12. Question: Is there space available at the Port of Entry to stage materials and equipment?
Answer: A small space will be made available to the contractor for the staging of materials and equipment. The precise location and size of the area will be determined after award at the pre-construction meeting. See Amendment #A0002.
