About this file

This document is Attachment I: Project Evaluation Student and Family Data Sources from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the GEAR UP program, detailing a comprehensive data collection and evaluation framework for tracking student progression from middle school through post-secondary education. The implementation objective focuses on collecting both quantitative and qualitative data across multiple academic and career development metrics, with annual data collection and analysis occurring at specific benchmark grades (8, 9, 11, and 12). The contractor will collaborate with TEA to identify and plan additional topics of interest prior to each annual data collection cycle.

The data sources include PEIMS (Public Education Information Management System), Co-Pilot, STAAR test results, college assessment scores (SAT, ACT, TSIA), and district-level exit tickets. Key performance indicators span student attendance, on-time promotion, graduation rates, course completion (including dual credit and AP), career exploration, college/career visits, individual academic planning, counseling sessions, financial aid application, and post-secondary enrollment. The evaluation framework incorporates formative, interim, and summative analysis types, with reporting timeframes ranging from annual assessments to long-term tracking up to seven years after initial program engagement, providing a comprehensive view of student academic and career development progress.
