About this file

Addendum No. 3 to RFP No. 25-0048-4 is issued by the Chatham County Purchasing & Contracting Department for an annual contract to provide food services for the Chatham County Detention Center. The original proposal deadline has been extended to 5:00 P.M. on July 29, 2025. The addendum addresses multiple clarification questions about current food service practices, including meal specifications, dietary requirements, and operational details. Key points include serving approximately 1,300 meals per meal period, providing Ramadan meals at 5:00 am and 7:15 pm, offering bagged lunches seven days per week, and supporting special dietary needs such as Kosher and Alternative Safety Diet options.

The document reveals that the County will invest in new electric heated carts with a capacity to hold 2,000 trays and will provide compatible trays and necessary electrical outlets. The County will be responsible for waste services, pest control, and equipment repairs, including electric warming carts. The estimated meal quantities for 2024 include 2,400 inmate meals, 2,400 special event/holiday inmate meals, 125 day and 60 night incentive meals for staff, and 100 meals per event/holiday. The County may consider price adjustments at contract renewal, with all changes subject to Board of Commissioners approval. Additionally, approximately 200 inmate workers receive double portions, and both the food service provider and the County will have registered dietitians to verify meal quality and nutritional value.
