About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document dated December 3, 2024, for the White Horse Hill NGP Auto Tour Route project. The document addresses two specific contractor questions regarding pavement markings and concrete repairs.

The Q&A clarifies that pavement marking materials must comply with Section 634 of FP-14 Specifications. For concrete repairs, it specifies work is required at only one location (station 11+73) at the center of a double-sided cattleguard, with repairs spanning 6-8 feet along the top of the cattleguard perimeter wall. The damage was caused by trailer hitches bottoming out, which tore out two angle irons and wore down the concrete. An accompanying photo shows the entrance cattle guard, which consists of metal grates installed across the roadway at the White Horse Hill entrance.

Questions Answers 1 What type of material are you requiring for the pavement markings on the job Refer to Section 634 of FP-14 Specifications

2 I have a few questions about the concrete repair items on the White Horse Hill Auto Tour Route surfacing project. I am wondering how many locations will need concrete work, if it is just the perimeter of the cattle guards that will need concrete work and the approximate dimensions of the cattle guards.

The concrete repair area is only at one location 11+73 toward the center of the double sided cattleguard. This is called out on plan sheet C1 and detailed on sheet S1.

The length of the repair is about 6’-8’ long on the top of the cattleguard perimeter wall. The damage is primarily caused by trailer hitches bottoming out tearing out the two angle irons off the concrete perimeter wall and wearing down the concrete. Attached is photo further back that shows more of the cattleguard and the damaged area to be repaired is only at one location of the overall cattleguard.
