About this file

This document contains questions and answers from a pre-bid meeting for a federal-aid highway project. The project will rehabilitate 6.54 miles of Donner Pass Road in California, adding bike lanes, drainage improvements, signing, striping and guardrail. Significant work includes 7,500 cubic yards of roadway excavation, 195 cubic yards of rock excavation, 12,000 cubic yards of aggregate base, and 20,000 tons of asphalt pavement. The total estimated cost is between $10-14 million. Construction will take place from spring 2020 to fall 2021. Bidders must use a 4:1 formulation for Type L pavement markings within the project region. Recessed pavement markings and MMA should be installed at a minimum depth of 0.11 inches. The project will require 8.25 acres of upland seeding and 0.05 acres of wetland seeding. Alternative retaining wall systems may be considered after award through value engineering.
