2. Could you pass on the drawings listed in the bid and a previous inspection report that we could review before bidding? A: Reference attachments “DR EA-E-09405 (1/2), and E-5298,11/11", In lieu of a report, a previous inspection request has been provided as attachment, “ALS Inspection Request”.

3. How many towers are in this structure? A: fifteen masts

4. Do you have plans with size of cables available or previous inspection report? A: There are a total of 112 guy wires. The guy wires are galvanized steel Bridge Strand, ranging from 5/8 to 1- 1/8 inches in diameter, the length of guys range 40 to 350 feet in length. Reference attachment “ALS Inspection Request”

Charleston West Virginia (CRW) Approach Lighting System (ALS) Light Bridge

We are requesting quote for an overall safety inspection of the complete ALS light bridge structure and the testing of guy wire tensions.

The ALS structure consists of fifteen (15) masts and fifteen (15) walkway bridges.

Mast heights range from 71 to 283 feet, each walkway bridge section spans from

130 to 210 feet, for a total walkway bridge length of 2400 feet. The starting walkway bridge abutment is at the end of runway 23 and connects to mast 4. Mast 6 is the 1000-foot bar and is equipped with a transverse walkway.

There are a total of 112 guy wires. The guy wires are galvanized steel Bridge

Strand, ranging from 5/8 to 1-1/8 inches in diameter, the length of guys range 40 to 350 feet in length.

Inspection of Walkway bridges and Masts:

Inspection of walkway bridges and masts, including all structural members, elevated platforms, guy wire anchor points, mast bases, foundations, miscellaneous hardware, safety ladders and security fences. Inspection of all masts will include measurements of masts vertical alignment and vertical linearity.

Guy wire Testing: Suggested testing Test method: A shunt or in-line device capable of measuring guy tensions from 5 to 25 (kips)

Shunt test method: Each guy wire test should be sampled a minimum of 3 times with results averaged If consistent results are not achieved relocating to a different location on each guy wire may be required to complete sampling.

Results expected.

A final report identifying concerns and issues found during inspections. Recommend actions to be taken and estimated cost for each action. Guy wire tension results adjusted or corrected to 60 deg Fahrenheit and documented in kilopounds (kips). A record of mast displacements with calculated total deviations for vertical alignment and vertical linearity

Vertical alignment:

DT = √(X12 + X22)

DT = Displacement Total X1 = Displacement of mast leg from vertical X2 = Adjacent measurement of displacement of mast leg from vertical

Vertical linearity:

DL = (XL + XR)/2

DL = Deviation from linearity XL = Lateral displacement left of reference line XR = Lateral displacement right of reference line
