2. Coordinate temporary enclosures with required inspections and tests to minimize the necessity of uncovering completed construction for that purpose.

B. Construction in Progress: Keep construction in progress, and adjoining materials in place, clean during handling and installation. Apply protective coverings where required for protection from damage or deterioration.

C. Completed Construction: Clean completed construction, and provide maintenance, as frequently as necessary to prevent damage or soiling or other deterioration through the remainder of the construction period.

D. Limiting Exposures: Supervise construction operations to prevent exposure of any part of construction, completed or in progress, to harmful, dangerous, damaging o r o t h e r w i s e deleterious conditions during the construction period. Such conditions including but not limited to the following:

1. Puncture.

2. Abrasion.

3. Heavy traffic.

4. Soiling, staining, and corrosion.

C. Mockups are full-size assemblies for review of construction, coordination, testing, or operation;

they are not Samples.

D. COR: Contracting Officer’s Representative.

E. RE: Resident Engineer.

F. Critical Path Method (CPM): A method of planning and scheduling a construction project where activities are arranged based on activity relationships along the critical path of the project. (See G below.)

G. Network Logic Diagram: A graphic diagram of a network schedule, showing the activities and activity relationships.

H. Activity: A discrete part of a project which can be identified for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling the construction project. Activities included in a construction schedule consume time and resources.

1. Critical activities are on the critical path.

2. Predecessor activity is an activity that must be completed before a given activity can begin.

I. Event: The starting or ending point of an activity.

J. Milestone: A key or critical point in time for reference or measurement.

K. Float: The measure of leeway (time) in activity performance. Total float is the measure of leeway in starting or completing an activity without adversely affecting the planned project completion date.

1.3 SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES

A. Coordination: Coordinate preparation and processing of submittals with performance of construction activities. Transmit each submittal sufficiently in advance of performance of related construction activities to avoid delay.

1. Coordinate each submittal with fabrication, purchasing, testing, delivery, other submittals, and related activities that require sequential activity.

2. Coordinate transmittal of different types of submittals for related elements of the Work so processing will not be delayed by the need to review submittals concurrently for coordination.

a. The COR reserves the right to withhold action on a submittal requiring coordination with other submittals until all related submittals are received.

SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES 01 33 00 - 5

HVAC HOT WATER BOILERS REPLACEMENT

REPLACEMENT OF WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM IN MECHANICAL ROOM

3. Processing: To avoid the need to delay installation as a result of the time required to process submittals, allow sufficient time for submittal review, including time for resubmittals.

a. Allow 30 calendar days for initial review. Allow additional time if the COR must delay processing to permit coordination with subsequent submittals.

b. If an intermediate submittal is necessary, process the same as the initial submittal.

c. Allow 30 calendar days for reprocessing each submittal.

d. No extension of Contract Time shall be authorized because of failure to transmit submittals to the COR sufficiently in advance of the Work to permit processing.

e. All submittals are due 45 calendar days after contract award.
